Rutherford Technology High School

The Year 10 debating team from Rutherford Technology High School recently took on teams from other Coalfields High Schools in the State wide Premier’s Debating Competition, resulting in the Rutherford team winning the Zone Championship.

Team members have been debating together since Year 7 and are now becoming the team to beat.  Earlier in the year the same team won the Maitland Law Week competition, outdoing teams from Maitland High School and St Mary’s High School, and going on to beat the Cessnock Toastmasters team.

The school’s Year 7 & 8 debating teams are also showing great promise, having won their division against Newcastle schools including Hunter Sports High School and Warners Bay High School.
