BULLYING - NO WAY !

Body

In recent times Bullying in Schools has become an issue of major importance among educators across Australia.  Rutherford Technology High School has taken a proactive approach to the issue of bullying and is committed to providing a safe environment for all students.
The school, in conjunction with parent and student representatives, has developed a brochure entitled  “Bullying – No Way”  for distribution to all students.
The brochure details a range of strategies to prevent bullying, that will be reinforced to students throughout the year.   Students are being actively encouraged to stand up for themselves, know that it is okay to tell a teacher what is happening, and be confident that they are supported by the system, the school, laws and the community.
Four key actions have been identified for students.  These are:
• Show Respect for others
• Be Responsible for your actions
• Communicate about what is happening
• Be tolerant of others
Principal Paul Tracey says that  “We are asking all students to make a commitment that they will not bully other students at the school.  All members of the school community are united in their determination to make the school a safe and friendly learning environment for students”.
